Two Haryana PWD officials arrested for taking bribe

Two officials of the Haryana Public Works Department have been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for passing the plan of a petrol pump alloted to the widow of a policeman who was killed during the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament.

The two officials, who have been caught included Junior Engineer of Public Works Department Satpal Singla and Head Draftsman Sita Ram posted in Faridabad, a spokesperson of the Police Department said here.

He said that Chairman All India Anti Terrorist Front Maninderjit Singh Bitta had lodged a complaint against these two officials for allegedly demanding bribe for passing the plan of a petrol pump.

In the complaint, Bitta had said that a petrol pump was allotted by the Central Government to the widow of Hawaldar Bijender Singh, who had sacrificed his life in a terrorist attack on Parliament.

The petrol pump was allotted at village Mangar on Faridabad-Gurgaon road. These two officials were demanding bribe from a relative of the deceased Ravinder Kumar for passing the plan of the petrol pump.
