Spot billing for power consumers in Gurgaon

Come September, electricity consumers in Gurgaon can say good-bye to endless queues and the hassles of paying electricity bills.

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has decided to make the spot billing system operational in the city by the 15th of next month. “Though there has been considerable reduction in complaints regarding the billing service, with the setting up of six customercare centres and a billing centre in Gurgaon, the introduction of the spot billing system will bring about more transparency in the service,” a spokesperson of the electricity distribution agency said.

According to the spokesperson, new electronic machines will be fed with meter readings and these will then generate electricity bills on the spot, in the presence of the consumer. Consumers can then immediately make a payment against their bill through a cheque.

Meter reading, bill distribution and cash collection will be taken care of by members of the Haryana Ex-Services League (HESL). These meter readers will also be equipped with bill generating machines to enable them to work with accuracy and hence, generate consumer satisfaction.
