Samsung exports ‘Made in India’ handset to Dubai

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a provider of mobile phones and telecom systems, has made its first symbolic export of its “Made in India” mobile phones to Dubai.

Speaking on this occasion H.C. Ryu, managing director, Samsung Telecommunications India (STI), said, “Middle East is one of the chief growth markets for Samsung, primarily because of lower mobile penetration and higher ARPUs. This sector is also witnessing the wave of liberalization making the market fiercely competitive. As the part of its strategic decision, Samsung will export more of ‘ Made in India’ mobiles to cater the demand of Middle East, thereby increasing the company’s market share and operating profit.”

Mobiles manufactured at Samsung’s Indian plant at Manesar plant will not only reduce company’s market-reaction time but in the long run will also bring down the cost of operations as the economies of scale starts setting in.

Officially inaugurated on 7th March 2006, the plant started its export within less than a fortnight. “With Dubai, the company will soon start exporting to other Middle East and Asian countries,” said Ryu.
