Meet Delhi’s crorepati netas

It’s raining millionaires in Delhi assembly elections, the richest being a candidate of Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) with approximately assets worth more than Rs150 crore.

The candidate, Kanwar Singh Tanwar, is fighting from Gurjar-dominated area of Chhatarpur on the outskirts of south Delhi.

Tanwar is not the only millionaire this time; the BJP chief ministerial candidate, VK Malhotra, with assets worth Rs5 crore in his name, is one of richest candidates contesting elections in Delhi.

As the candidates have started filing nominations for their constituencies for the upcoming elections, they are disclosing their financial status before the Election Commission.

The candidate who has decided to stand up against VK Malhotra is Jitendra Kochar of the Congress. Kochar has assets worth Rs3.64 crore. Kochar has said he is going to make things difficult for Malhotra who is fighting for an assembly seat after a very long time.

Chief minister Sheila Dikshit is also on the list of millionaire candidates. Dikshit, who possesses assets worth Rs1.2 crore, is fighting from the New Delhi area. The enthusiastic BJP candidate, Vijay Jolly, who has decide to go Barack Obama’s way in his style of campaigning against the chief minister is sitting on assets worth Rs1.33 crore.
The present finance minister of Delhi, AK Walia, has managed to handle his own finances well, as he has assets worth Rs4 crore.
