Man wanted by Haryana Police held in Delhi

A man, wanted by Haryana Police in a loot case in Panchkula, has been arrested from a south Delhi locality, police said today.

On a specific information, 28-year-old Mahesh alias Ganja was arrested last night from Lodhi Road Complex area where he had come to meet one of his contacts staying in the area, a senior police official said.

Police have also recovered the knife used in the crime from the accused, who is also associated with the notorious Raju Hakla gang.

Mahesh, a resident of Sultanpuri, was accused of robbing a senior advocate of Punjab and Haryana High Court, R S Mittal, after locking him and his wife in a cupboard in their Sector 6 house in Panchkula in Haryana on the night of July 5.

He, along with four others, looted gold and diamond jewellery and cash worth around 25 lakh from the duo&aposs house.

The robbed articles were reportedly sold to a part-time jeweller.

The accused had been involved in about 12 cases of snatching and robberies in buses in the northern, southern and western parts of Delhi.

The Haryana Police has been informed about his arrest, the official said.
