Haryana, Rajasthan ink pact to increase routes of bus service

Haryana and Rajasthan on Thursday signed an agreement under which public transport buses of the two states will conduct services on 404 routes lying in each others territory.

Haryana Roadways will now cover 1, 23,446 kms daily as compared to 62,873 kms as per the last agreement signed in 1997.

The Rajasthan Roadways and private buses authorised by it will run 1, 33,876 kms instead of the previously agreed 67,599 kms, an official spokesman said here.

The agreement was signed in Delhi by Haryana Financial Commissioner of Transport Samir Mathur and Principal Secretary, Transport, Rajasthan S N Thanvi, he said.

Out of the 404 routes, Rajasthan Roadways will operate on 315 and in the rest of the routes, buses will be operated by private operators, he said.

Under the deal, the Haryana Roadways will start bus services to new destinations in Rajasthan including Naukha, Salasar, Pokhran and Khajuwala.

The decision to ply super deluxe air-conditioned Volvo buses to main cities in Rajasthan and Haryana from Delhi was also under consideration of the states, he said, adding an agreement in this regard will be finalised shortly
