The Haryana Government has chalked out a Rs 2589 crore mega project for the improvement of water and sewerage, which would be implemented with the assistance of World Bank in both the rural and urban areas of the State.

Chief Secretary, Prem Prashant, said this project was the outcome of the recent Divisional Development Review Sessions (DDRS), following which the pace of the all round development in the State was accelerated.

Prem Prashant said all the Deputy Commissioners had been directed to identify five priority areas of the development in their respective districts according to their local needs, which were discussed in the review meetings.

The strengthening of the water and sewerage system was one of the top priority areas as identified by most of the districts. Hence, a detailed project was conceptualised for the entire State.

Prashant said the second round of DDRS would start from September 7 at all the Divisional Headquarters and the Deputy Commissioners had been directed to identify five more priority areas, so that the work on those areas could be initiated.
