Delhi commuters battle traffic snarls

For Delhiites, it has been a week of huge traffic jams and commuter discomfort.

On Tuesday, Chinese President Hu Jintao was in town while Hu’s talks with Pm Manmohan Singh at Hyderabad House blocked the india Gate roads.

The Tibetan protest against his visit blocked Connaught place, Traffic in the area anyway gets slow towards the afternoon because of the india international Trade Fair taking place at Pragati Maidan.

On Wednesday, the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament, the BJP kicked off its campaign against the government with a protest march from Rajghat to Parliament Street, again causing traffic blockages at areas right up to the busy iTO crossing.

On Thursday, trade union workers from AiTUC took over, marching from Ram Lila Grounds to Connaught Place.

Guru’s martrydom

And today is another day of rallies in the capital and of likely traffic jams, it’s the martyrdom day of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur and a procession will start from Gurdwara Sis Ganj.

it is expected to end nearly nine hours later at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.

The route is as follows: Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Chandni Chowk, Nai Sarak, Chawri Bazara, Hauz Quazi, Ajmeri Gate, Pul Paharganj, DBG Road, Chuna Mandi, Main Paharganj, Basant Road, Panchkuian Road, Bangla Sahib Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Gurdwara Bangla ahib, GPO Roundabout, Pandit Pant Marg and end at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.

The normal flow of traffic will be affected in North and Central Delhi and traffic will be diverted at several points.
