Delhi bus corridor scheme survives axe
The Delhi government on Saturday decided to go ahead with the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system with dedicated corridors, it was announced on Saturday.
Following a crucial meeting on the disputed scheme, the government decided the scheme would continue as it could potentially carry 60 percent of the commuters on a given route.
There has been strong opposition to the BRT system because it takes away much of the road space for bus corridors and has led to huge traffic pile-ups on the first road in south Delhi where it is being tried out.
