Case against Abhay Chautala ‘victimisation’: INLD

The opposition Indian National Lok Dal in Haryana today described the case against its leader Abhay Chautala as an example of “political victimisation”, a charge rubbished by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

“Unable to carry out a single constructive task despite a massive mandate, the Congress government is frustrated due to growing resentment among various sections. It has started training guns on opponents and is bent upon political victimisation to hide its failures,” INLD leader and former Finance Minister Sampat Singh told a news conference here.

He alleged that the Congress was nursing a grudge against Abhay Chautala, son of former Chief Minister and INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala.

A case was lodged by Sirsa Police against the former MLA in connection with the killing of a youth Congress leader Chand Singh Brar in Dabwali yesterday.

Singh said the government led by Hooda was “obsessed” with the Chautala family and had been targeting them one way or another. “During the assembly sessions, we have seen how O P Chautala’s name had been raked up for being absent from the house. Despite knowing fully well he was not attending on health grounds, the treasury benches poked fun saying he is afraid to face them,” he said.

Hooda rubbished the INLD accusations, saying “there are clear directions that the case be registered on merit and these should not be politically motivated… The guilty will not be spared and the innocent will not be troubled”.
