1 killed, 2 hurt in Gurgaon

A 25-year-old man was killed and two others injured after they were hit by a speeding Santro car on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway on Monday morning.

According to the police, the accident happened when Deepak and Harpal who were heading towards IGI Airport, got off their Maruti van to change one of its tyres that got deflated, near Iffco Chowk. It was when the Santro hit both of them from behind. The driver of the Santro, Manoj Pandey, was also injured.

The impact of the accident was so much that Deepak and Harpal were thrown several meters away, said a police officer.

The police later said that tyre burst could be a reason behind the driver of the Santro loosing balance and hitting the Maruti van. While Deepak died on the spot, Harpal and Manoj were rushed to a hospital. Manoj’s condition is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, the police registered an FIR against Manoj under Section 304 of IPC for rash and negligent driving at Sector 18 police post. DCP (West) Rajesh Kumar Arya said Manoj would be arrested after he recovers.
