A delegation led by Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman Kamal Faruqui on Monday met Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna and demanded a probe into the police shootout at Batala House in which two suspected terrorists were killed and one was arrested by the police.
Faruqui along with the Commission’s two members S Pushpinder Singh and Arnold James have “sought an impartial investigation to ascertain whether the people against whom police action was taken were actually involved in any terrorist activity,” a statement from the LG house said here.
Assuring them that the government is committed to provide an environment of justice, peace and security and inclusion of all sections of people irrespective of caste, creed or religion, Khanna said there was no question of looking at members of a particular community with any bias or prejudice.
According to the statement, he also assured the delegation that due weightage would always be given to their valuable advice and concerned issues will be looked into with impartiality and compassion.
The Lieutenant Governor appealed to the Chairman and members of the Minorities Commission to use their good offices to spread the message of peace, amity and brotherhood among all sections of the people.
He expressed his confidence that with active interest taken by enlightened community leaders, better sense will prevail and all sections of people will be able to pursue their goals of progress and development in a peaceful and harmonious manner.
