Power regularisation drive in Gurgaon

Gurgaon residents with unauthorised electricity load can take a breather, and relax. The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has reintroduced its voluntary disclosure scheme that allows all domestic, commercial and agricultural consumers to voluntarily declare unauthorised load without paying any penalty.

The power corporation’s officials said the scheme, reintroduced following “persistent requests from consumers”, will be in effect till July 31 - in both urban as well as rural areas of the district. According to DHBVN officials, willing consumers are not required to submit any fresh terms and conditions, or affidavits. All they need to do is give an undertaking that they would abide by all terms and conditions of power supply, officials said.

“This is a golden opportunity to get all irregular supply regularised,” a DHBVN spokesperson said. “Consumers just need to show they are using extra power, and get their meters extended to the required limit.”

For extending the load up to 20 kilowatt (KW), consumers are not required to submit any test report; they would have to put forward the report only if the power load extension is beyond the 20-KW limit.

As per the scheme, extended load would be considered regularised with immediate effect once all formalities are completed. The same process is applicable to farmers and industrialists - they need to prove to DHBVN officials that the wiring for extended load comes from an authorised contractor and tested as per provisions of the relevant act.
