Panchkula, March 25 More than a hundred residents of the various cooperative group housing societies of Panchkula including a large number of senior citizens and women staged a dharna outside the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in Sector 6 against the Haryana Apartments Act.
The protest was called by the joint forum cooperative group housing societies under the chairmanship of J K Malhotra and president of the forum Deepak Rai Walia. They were protesting against the alleged barbaric policies of HUDA and the effect of the Apartment Ownership Act on the cooperative group housing societies.
K K Jindal, the general secretary of the forum, said: :The Administration of HUDA has always been making excuses to collect money from employees and retired persons on one pretext or the other. The HUDA is acting like a profit- oriented builder.”
A memorandum on this issue has been submitted to Kumari Shailja, Union Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation and Chander Mohan, Deputy Chief Minister.
