A retired bureaucrat lodged a complaint with the Gurgaon police of robbery worth Rs 35 lakh, allegedly by their Nepali servant on Friday in their Sector-56 home when the entire family was out shopping.
The owner of the house is a Additional Director General of Haryana Police (ADGP) while the bureaucrat is the tenant. According to the police, the bureaucrat had hired the Nepali servant, Sunil Kumar two and half months ago.
During this period Kumar had gained the faith of all the family members. But on Friday, when all the family members left for shopping around 3pm and returned after at 8 pm, saw valuables worth Rs 35 lakh, including Rs 80,000 cash stolen and the servant absconding.
Investigators said that the servant broke open the doors to steal the valuables and managed to flee. “We have got the servant’s photograph and are working on all possible clues to nab him as early as possible. We are not yet aware whether he was verified,” said a police official.
Police officials did not reveal any information since the owner of the house is a top cop. “But that has nothing to with this case since the servant was kept by the tenant and the house has been given on rent,” said an official.
