Haryana announces 6 pc DA hike

The Haryana government on Wednesday announced a 6 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) to the state government employees to 41 per cent, with effect from July 1, 2007 on the pattern of the central government employees.

State Finance Minister Birender Singh said that the arrears on account of the enhancement made in DA would be paid from July 1, 2007.

“Grant of DA would put additional liability of Rs 132 crore on the state exchequer during the eight months (from July, 2007 to February, 2008) of the current financial year and Rs 198 crore during the next financial year,” Singh said.

He said that the government would have to bear a liability of Rs 16.50 crore towards granting the DA. This enhancement in DA installment will benefit 2.74 lakh employees of the State, he added.
