25 escape from Sonepat juvenile home

In the third such incident in the past one year, 25 juvenile delinquents escaped from a Borstel House-cum-Observation Centre at Sonepat on Friday evening around 7 pm. While police have managed to nab 14 of them, 11 – including three involved in murder and robbery – are yet to be caught.

The incident has raised critical questions on the negligence of the authorities of the observation centre who had forgotten to close two gates, giving an opportunity to the juveniles – who were returning from court after appearing in various case hearings – to give a slip to the jail authorities.

“The entire state has been put on high alert,” said Sonepat district police chief KK Rao. Rao informed that three people have been booked for negligence.
