The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the Centre to file a detailed report pertaining to illegal constructions by the VIPs in their official bungalows in Lutyen’s Zone here.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice M K Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Khanna asked the CPWD to file an action taken report (ATR) and submit data with regard to the bungalows having illegal constructions.
This direction was given by the Bench after Additional Solicitor General P P Malhotra submitted that the department had served notice to 71 such erring occupants including Railway Minister Lalu Prasad.
“The notice, which was served to all such occupants got expired yesterday. Therefore, the department required more time to take action,” he submitted.
The ASG said that as the government had also modified its guidelines for allotment of bungalows, the number of erring occupants had come down to 71 from 90.
Amicus curae Rekha Palli had on December 14 informed the court that a survey had indicated that out of 218 bungalows in the zone, illegal construction had been carried out in 90 of them.
